This system is a proprietary software program designed by Blue Ribbon, and we run it for each client to determine optimal watering times for lawns and landscapes.
Optimal water run time varies based on many factors. To name a few: type of turf or landscape, slope of the terrain, temperature & seasonality, water output pressure, current year
precipitation levels, soil type and holding capacity, and local ET Factor (evapotranspiration, or ET, is the combination of two separate processes whereby water is lost from the soil surface by evaporation and from the plant by transpiration).
Our program takes all these variables into account -- along with the information we load in about each client's property -- then prints out a by-zone watering chart that is used to set the optimal watering times for each area on the property. Our technician tapes a copy inside the main timer box for reference, plus gives the client an extra copy.
Landscapes need adequate water for healthy growth and appearance, but overwatering can also harm plants, as well as waste an important natural resource. We designed this program to take a proactive approach to water conservation and responsible water management. To our delight, and that of our customers, the sytem has been proven to cut water waste by as much as 30% - which is also great news for your wallet if you're on city water.
